Aliando o enquadramento geográfico do concelho e as características naturais do território – Mar, Ria e Barrinha de Esmoriz, à disponibilidade de equipamentos e infraestruturas de apoio à náutica, Ovar reúne condições para criar e promover experiências de natureza turística, lúdica e educativa que valorizem as tradições e dinâmicas do setor náutico do município.
O concelho de Ovar detém aproximadamente 17 000 metros de costa e o canal norte da Ria de Aveiro, condições naturais de excelência e com inegável importância ambiental, social, cultural, económica e política. Estes ecossistemas são essenciais à população, por constituírem fontes de alimentação, energia e recursos minerais, criando oportunidades económicas numa multiplicidade de setores, da qual faz parte o turismo.
Com o objetivo de reforçar a importância do setor náutico em Ovar e criar ou melhorar os serviços disponibilizados no território apresentam-se algumas razões que justificam a criação de uma Estação Náutica, considerando sempre os interesses da atividade turística:
- Reforço da capacidade de atração do Concelho de Ovar no setor náutico, com melhoria dos serviços e equipamentos disponibilizados;
- Estruturação de uma oferta complementar ao turismo de sol e praia, criando e valorizando outros produtos turísticos;
- Valorização do trabalho desenvolvido por agentes económicos já presentes no território e das atividades náuticas já praticadas como é exemplo, a vela, a canoagem, passeios de barco, stand up paddle, surf; e valorização de tradições como a arte da carpintaria naval;
- Valorização de espaços museológicos dedicados à preservação e divulgação do património náutico ovarense;
- Ampliação da oferta e da rede colaborativa (pública, privada e associativa) referente às atividades náuticas e turísticas;
- Estimulo ao crescimento das atividades marítimo-turísticas no território.
OVAR NAUTICAL STATION
The geographic setting of the municipality of Ovar and the natural features of its territory – sea, Ria de Aveiro (Aveiro Lagoon) and Barrinha de Esmoriz (Esmoriz Lagoon) –, together with the availability of nautical facilities and infrastructures, allow it to meet the necessary conditions for the creation and promotion of touristic, recreational and educational experiences that may enhance the traditions and dynamics of its nautical sector.
The municipality of Ovar features an approximately 17-km-long coastline and the North channel of the Ria de Aveiro (Aveiro Lagoon) that offer excellent natural conditions with an undeniable environmental, social, cultural, economic and political importance. These ecosystems are essential to the population, as they constitute sources of food, energy and mineral resources, creating economic opportunities in a variety of sectors, including tourism.
With the purpose of reinforcing the importance of the nautical sector in Ovar and creating or improving the services provided in this territory, we present some reasons that justify the creation of a Nautical Station, always taking into account the interests of tourist activity:
- Reinforcement of the attraction capacity of the municipality of Ovar in the nautical sector, with an improvement of provided services and facilities;
- Structuring of a complementary offer to sun and beach tourism, creating and promoting other tourist products;
- Enhancement of the work carried out by economic agents already present in the territory, nautical activities already available (such as sailing, canoeing, boat rides, stand up paddleboarding and surfing) and traditions, such as the art of boat carpentry;
- Enhancement of museums dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the nautical heritage of Ovar;
- Expansion of the offer and the collaborative (public, private and associative) network concerning nautical and tourist activities;
- Encouragement to the growth of maritime tourism activities in the territory.
